Carmen Ng is a responsible AI researcher working on intercultural AI ethics, with publications affiliated with the Technical University of Munich. Her research (ACM FAccT, ACM CHI, MIT Science Policy Review) bridges technical AI auditing and socio-cultural governance, evaluating how AI systems, such as large language models in social robots and the use of emotion inference in biometric products, align with users across globally diverse contexts. She has presented her research at the Responsible AI Forum of the Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence, and speaks on responsible AI in industry settings, including internal Siemens panels on the ethical use and design of AI.

Trained as a journalist in Hong Kong, she was a community editor at Reuters News and a freelance co-producer of social documentaries on urban poverty for SBS Australia, with earlier newsroom experience at Bloomberg News and The Wall Street Journal Asia, before moving into technology communications in Europe. Her former collaborations include co-building educational resources on digital self-determination as a research sprint fellow with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, and co-mapping global AI policies as a research member of the Center for AI & Digital Policy. She is the founder of AI East West.
